Annual highlights
In 1936, when Keith Anyon was 10 months old, his parents Margaret and Harold learned he had Down Syndrome. The Anyons started a long campaign for Keith’s right to be educated and they joined forces with other parents.
In 1949, 60 years ago, these parents formed the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s Parents’ Association, the forerunner to IHC.
This year we celebrate IHC’s birthday. We also recognise that there is much to be done to support people with intellectual disabilities to live, learn, work and enjoy life in the community.
This report covers the year 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009.
