IDEA Services has a responsibility to ensure everyone has access to good health care. An important part of this is that people have an annual health check carried out by their doctor.

People living in an IDEA Services home can expect to:

• pay for their own doctors visits and prescriptions

• have staff go with them to the doctor. If they want to go on their own they must take a health visit form for the doctor to fill in

• be looked after at home if they are sick, unless they need to go to hospital.

When a person we are supporting is very sick, staff will respect their wishes, and those of their families. If the decision is made that a terminally ill person be cared for in an IDEA Services home, we will work with NASCs, health services and families to arrange this.
