IDEA Living Services PrintPrint

IDEA Services homes are homes for people with disabilities and, at the same time, workplaces for staff.

This means they must be comfortable and relaxing for the residents, and have things that staff need like a fax machine and sleepover room.

People living in an IDEA Services home will usually live with no more than four other people. They will have their own rooms that they can furnish and a key to the front door if they choose.

Residents will be involved in household routines, such as cooking, laundry, washing up and cleaning, as far as their skills allow. They will also learn new skills to help them participate in daily life. Having friends to visit is encouraged, with the agreement of the other residents.

Staff will treat people with respect. Their role is to support people, not primarily to be a housekeeper.

Families are invited to be involved,if that is what both parties want. Families are kept informed of activities, invited to social activities.
