Families

families

Like all New Zealanders, people with an intellectual disability have the same rights to be part of a family and to participate in all aspects of family and whanau life.

Families have a life-long commitment to their family member with an intellectual disability and it is vital that their role and knowledge is recognised. Services and supports must be responsive to and respect families’ culture and choices.
