About intellectual disability

Intellectual disability is different for each person. While there are some common associated conditions, like Down syndrome, the support disabled people need to live life as part of a community greatly varies.

We have developed some general information about what defines intellectual disability, particularly in the context of New Zealand.

There’s also information about being a good communicator and a guide for journalists to ensure media respectfully portray disabled people.
