IHC strongly supports moves to end the discriminatory practices of the MWE scheme in ways that ensure people with intellectual disabilities receive fair wages.

IHC says the education system is not working well enough for our most disadvantaged children and young people.

IHC says it is critical that the reform of Vocational Education recognises that improved employment outcomes for disabled people and people with additional learning support needs is reliant on having equitable access to and outcomes from a quality public and inclusive education system.

IHC strongly supports the swift moves being taken, in the aftermath of the Christchurch terrorist attack, to limit the availability and use of semi-automatic firearms, magazines and parts that can be used to assemble prohibited firearms.

IHC says for people with intellectual disabilities to be active participants in legal issues and processes, they require legal information to be communicated in a way they can understand.

IHC recommends care is taken with how welfare reform proposals are framed to ensure the welfare system, and the social contract on which it is based, is inclusive.
