The IHC Board has today announced that it is scaling back its previous growth strategy around Accessible Properties’ (APL) social housing portfolio. In addition, the IHC Board wants to take a more integrated, Group-wide approach to its overall property portfolio, aimed towards its vision of supporting people with an intellectual disability.

As a result of these decisions, the mandate of APL has shifted, including its management responsibilities. For that reason, Kelly Bunyan has decided to leave APL on 23 May 2025. IHC and APL will be considering what further changes may be needed to the leadership structure of APL going forward and will consult on what this may mean.

Tony Shaw, Chair of IHC, says, "The IHC Board recognises that its decision is a significant change in direction, and that the move away from the growth strategy for APL impacts the management of APL.  

"Given Kelly’s longstanding connections to APL and IHC, the decision has been challenging for all, and we would like to thank Kelly for her professionalism during this change as well as the work she has undertaken as APL’s CEO and during her three-year tenure as a Director on APL’s board.”

Andy Evans, Chair of APL, says he is sorry that the Group will be losing Kelly’s passion, skill and experience in the property and construction sectors.

“I am sad to see Kelly moving on, she is a highly regarded visionary leader and a well-respected Executive. I am grateful for her steady leadership during her time as APL CEO and I will continue to advocate for her success. I am sure she will shortly assume another key role in New Zealand’s property sector."

Kelly says, ‘I have enjoyed my time with APL in my capacity as Director and CEO. It’s been a pleasure working with a passionate team that shows up with heart every day to make a fundamental difference in the lives of others. Whilst sad to leave, I know that APL will continue to deliver property with purpose, building communities and shaping New Zealand’s landscape’.
