In this beautiful Matariki special Not So Ordinary the cameras follow Te Roopu Manaaki – a passionate kapa haka group supported by IDEA Services in Masterton, as they prepare for the 2024 Te Anga Pāua o Aotearoa National Kapa Haka Festival.

Glenn and Ameria are kaitataki (leaders) of their kapa haka roopu Te Roopu Manaaki for the first time. Not So Ordinary captures their hard work, nerves and the determination needed as they help get their roopu ready for the stage. We see Te Roopu Manaaki rehearsing, supporting each other, and embracing connection, identity, inclusion, and wellbeing through te ao Māori.
