Throughout the IHC Group we are planning for Alert Level 2 and beyond as we join others in quiet celebration of the news there have been no new COVID-19 cases since the weekend.

While we plan, we will continue to prioritise the safety of the people we support and our staff and therefore our no visitor policy remains in place.

What’s clear in listening to health officials and politicians is that there is a nervousness that the low numbers will give people a false sense of security or prompt them to become complacent about sticking to the rules. We won’t be doing that – we are utterly committed to reducing risk to the people we support and our staff.

We know that it’s tough for you as family members and the people we support not to be able to meet face-to-face and that for some this will be extra tough for some on Mothers’ Day.

Throughout the country there will be many people who will be catching up with their Mothers by phone or online because of distance or because they are continuing to keep bubbles small and reduce risk to people (including those over 70).

We know that online or phone calls don’t work for everyone. But we also know our staff are working hard to support as many people as possible to stay connected.

Our Clinical Team has been processing the small number of applications we have received from family members asking to see a person in our services on compassionate grounds. If you need more information about this, please talk to your local Service or Area Manager.
